Can Obama “order” the Congress to do as he says?

Live video and blog: Obama promotes tax reform

“”The president orders his political adversaries in Congress to pass a fair tax plan for all Americans.”

I am very worried about democracy and freedom in the USA.  The above quote which is the sub heading for the article betrays an awful opinion by the writer.  The President of the USA does not have the Constitutional right to “order” the congress to do anything.  This is a Constitutional democracy and not a dictatorship.  Seems like the news reporter and the editor that approved the subheading feel that Obama either already has or should be given dictatorial powers to “order” people to do things.  Such thinking on the part of our “free” press is a very sad commentary upon the future of freedom in USA.

  1. I don’t remember his “ordering”. He was pretty firm with Congress, like should have started to be a couple of years ago, but I didn’t hear, “I order you…”

You’re right, there should have been some editorial review of that line of text.

  2. I hope that the press has the ability to learn the word consensus. Hell, I hope Washington can learn it too. Sometimes it seems our government is supremely inefficient, but that may be the great thing about it.that save it and us. It acts a bit slow for some reporters who need a story NOW. A dictator would be much more efficient and quick. Like, quick, off with my head. .
